Repositioning a Nairobi-based fresh food exporter for international markets

AdoFresh Kenya is a fresh produce export company sourcing premium fruits and vegetables from certified Kenyan farms and supplying markets across Europe and the Middle East. When they came to us, they had a solid product and strong farming partnerships — but their brand was invisible in the competitive B2B export market. European buyers couldn't differentiate them from dozens of other Kenyan exporters pitching the same produce.

The Challenge

Buyers make decisions based on trust and reliability more than price. AdoFresh needed to build credibility with importers who had never visited Kenya and were evaluating vendors entirely through their digital presence. Their existing branding conveyed none of the quality, traceability, or partnership ethos that their business actually delivered.

Our Approach

We began with a thorough competitive audit, studying how other African fresh produce exporters positioned themselves globally and identifying the white space where AdoFresh could own a differentiated position. We found most competitors competed on generic "freshness" claims. AdoFresh's real strength was their farmer partnership model and farm-to-aircraft traceability. Building a venture brand from zero — the full identity for a Nairobi-based investment firm

Hego Ventures is an early-stage investment firm focused on scaling African tech and consumer businesses with patient capital and operational support. They came to us at pre-launch with a clear investment thesis and a strong founding team — but no brand, no name, and no articulation of what made them different for African founders.

The Challenge

The VC branding challenge is unique: you need to attract two very different audiences simultaneously. Founders need to feel seen and partnered with. LPs need confidence, rigour, and institutional credibility. Most VC brands optimise for one and sacrifice the other. Hego needed to do both — in a market where trust is earned slowly and credibility signals matter enormously.

Our Approach

We ran a two-day brand strategy workshop to excavate the genuine investment philosophy. The core insight: Hego specifically backed second-time founders and experienced operators — people who'd been through one cycle and were building their most important company. The Challenge

Luxury real estate in Nairobi is a trust game played over a long consideration period.
